The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified.



SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, sets up theatrical/musical equipment such as lighting, sound, chairs, stands, etc. elements in a theatrical space for production use. Performs equipment troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and more complex repairs with the assistance of a Technical Director or Stage Manager



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Must be available 4 hours before a performance for setup.

2.Installs and adjust lighting and sound equipment for use in orchestra concerts.

3.Inspects, troubleshoots, and performs preventive maintenance and a range of repairs to lighting and/or sound equipment.

4.Maintains equipment inventory.

5.Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.



MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

3 to 6 months minimum experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities of theatrical tech work or stage management preferred.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

•Knowledge of lighting and/or sound procedures/requirements.

•Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.

•Ability to communicate effectively.

•Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance to lighting and/or sound equipment.



WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

•Work normally performed in professional theatre. Requires working in tight spaces, under low light levels and at heights. Exposure to electrical wires.

•Considerable physical activity. May require handling of objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs.

•Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.



SCHEDULE:

Typically, Monday – Saturday evenings (occasionally Sunday afternoon); one week per month from October to May. Production week is usually around 40 hrs depending on the complexity of the show.

We rehearse & perform in three different locations across the MetroPlex, so reliable transportation is a MUST.
