Realm Business Solutions is looking for a Technical Writer to join our commercial property management team in Plano, TX.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


The successful candidate will demonstrate ability to:


• Research, write, edit, and proofread technical documentation, such as user's manuals, training guides, quick reference guides, release notes and other collateral documentation for all applications as needed


• Plan new documentation projects by determining the project scope and timelines, ensuring integration with larger projects, and performing coordination with other groups


• Assume responsibility for managing and coordinating update schedules for all materials


• Communicate effectively with Business Analysts, quality control experts, project management, and technical staff (system/software engineers and software developers) in order to ensure documentation is accurate and effective


• Participate in developing documentation and training plans for new applications


• Interact with Application Developers to translate functional specifications into end-user documentation; test documentation against system functionality to verify quality of user instructions








QUALIFICATIONS:


• Undergraduate degree preferably in English, Communications, or Technical Writing; equivalent experience may be acceptable.


• Minimum 5+ years technical writing experience


• Minimum 2+ years Online Help development experience (Flare, RobobHelp, AuthorIT, WebWorks, doc2help)


• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, including styles and templates.


• Experience using conditional text


• Strong knowledge of Adobe Acrobat


• Strong knowledge of Graphics packages (Snag It, Paint Shop Pro, Capture)


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills


• Ability to translate business specifications into user documentation


• Ability to adhere to corporate standards and style


• Ability to manage multiple projects within strict deadlines


• Familiarity with Windows-based or web-based documentation tools


• Demonstrate ability to produce high-quality work as part of a fast-paced dynamic team


• Proven ability to effectively communicate with others to achieve desired results; must be approachable


• Demonstrate ability to work independently and as a team member


• Experience with Microsoft Project is a plus but not required


• Knowledge of Team Systems Foundation (TFS) is a plus but not required


• Real estate experience a plus








CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT:


• Flexible to work extended hours as needed in order to meet department deadlines
