Senior Oracle Database Administrator

Engaged, Team Oriented, Self Driven team member sought to join our Database Team at Placemark Investments (http://placemark.com/). Placemark Investments is an investment advisory firm registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company is privately held, with 90 employees located in offices in Dallas, Texas and Wellesley, Massachusetts. Placemark develops and distributes unified managed accounts (UMA) products through retail investment advisory firms nationwide. Placemark is one of only two firms in the industry that offers tax-optimized overlay portfolio management services for distributors. Overlay portfolio management is the heart of proprietary UMA solutions - the most exciting development in retail financial services since the mutual fund. We are the leader in our industry and growing rapidly.
Our next team member will be responsible for managing, maintaining and expanding our complex custom database systems. Looking for someone with lots of energy who is looking to join an exciting environment and help to grow our team by mentoring and providing leadership to junior staff. Below is a list of the qualities we are seeking.
* 7-10 years' Oracle DBA and of UNIX system administration experience. Systems administration background a plus.
* Oracle on Linux a must
* Oracle RAC experience a must
* Oracle ASM experience a plus
* Linux Administration/Oracle OCP Certification a plus but more importantly demonstrated practical knowledge
* Advanced knowledge of Oracle DBA tasks - preferably in Oracle 9i/10g RAC
* Demonstrated experience in database and system backup and recovery procedures
* Intermediate knowledge of UNIX (Linux) administration
* Database design experience (Both Logical and Physical)
* Knowledge of PLSQL a plus.
* Understanding of database-based web architecture
* Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking principles and multi-tiered web architectures.
* Ability to troubleshoot system/database issues independently
* Understanding of application; system and hardware security issues; and constraints surrounding the implementation and use of computer software
* Strong interpersonal; negotiating; written and oral skills
* Strong team player
* Someone who has a extreme desire to learn and contribute
* Multi-tasker who enjoys being challenged and also can challenge his/her teammates
* B. S. in Computer Science
