Cover Dallas' social scene

Dallas, TX • 08/29/2007

You: Smart, personable, tech-savvy, organized, presentable, a journalist or at least a good writer, able to spell, know or willing to learn Dallas’ social scene, able to drive, meet deadlines, use a camera and manage a roving team of freelance party photographers. It helps if you’ve lived in Dallas for a spell.

Us: Former newspaper journalist and tech-savvy veteran business executive affiliated with a proven, near-national provider of software tools and content for nonprofits and philanthropists in select U.S. markets. Yes, he’s done this before.

The Opportunity: With our help, you act as the public face of the soon-to-be-launched Blacktie-Dallas.com website. You attend elite functions, talk to nonprofits and the media and in general “get the word out.” You’ll write a bit, you’ll load party photos into the website and you’ll need to know your way around the Internet. You’ll be supported remotely by sales, technical-support and graphic arts staff. This is not a sales position, per se, although sales-support skills will be helpful. You also will need to assemble and manage a team of independent-contractor party photographers and provide backup (in other words, shoot photos) on those occasions (rare, we hope) that scheduling conflicts occur.

This position is expected to come open Sept. 15 and will be contract or half-time (20 hours per week) initially. Finalists must be able to attend face-to-face interviews in Dallas in late August or early September. Office Location: TBD. Hours: Flexible. Salary: TBD. Join us as we launch and build a platform to help Dallas-focused nonprofits thrive.
